The annual Fortnum & Mason Food and Drink Awards have recently been announced for 2024 and alongside this year's winners we saw the Hairy Bikers, and late Dave Myers, honoured. The duo were awarded the title of Personalities of the Year in a fitting tribute.
The awards, now in their 12th year, champion the achievements of the UK's current and emerging writers, publishers, photographers, broadcasters, content creators and personalities who encourage us to enjoy, experience and broaden our appreciation of food and drink through their work.
The shortlist and winners are selected by an independent panel of expert judges in 13 categories from work published or broadcast during 2023.
One of the winners in particular caught our eye, Chris van Tulleken who took best Debut Food Book with his Ultra-Processed People. UPFs have been in the spotlight of late and are one of the trends we've been tracking for some time now, having also been joined by Dr Kevin Hall, an expert in UPFs, at last year's Trend Summit.

Other winners included Philip Khoury, taking the Debut Cookery Book category for A New Way to Bake: Re-imagined Recipes for Plant-based Cakes, Bakes and Desserts; Ajesh Patalay as Best Food Writer for his work in the Financial Times, and also Rick Stein CBE who took home Fortnum's Special Award.
