Celebrating Chefs In Schools 5th Birthday

This month marks the fifth birthday of TFP Foundation's charity partner Chefs In Schools, an organisation on a mission to improve the health of children through better eating and food education and inspire schools to believe that better is possible. Some of thefoodpeople team, including director Charles Banks, were there to celebrate with them.

"The TFP Foundation has been a supporter of Chefs In Schools since 2020, it was our great pleasure to join their team, volunteers, fellow funders, school heads and supporters at one of their first schools, Elizabeth Garret Anderson in London, to celebrate the achievements of the last five years," explained Charles. "Since we've been working together we've seen the Chefs In Schools impact grow to reaching over 70 schools and more than 33,400 kids everyday. Since launch, Chefs In Schools has served over 3m meals to kids across the UK. To mark the occasion we not only tasted an array of delicious school food cooked by chefs from across the Chefs In Schools programme (including real Turkey Twizzlers!) but we also had an opportunity to watch a film created to mark this birthday milestone."

The team then spent the rest of the day at Smallwood Primary School to assess the impact of their work. And the message remains clear – great school food fuels the imagination. Hungry children can't learn and their imaginations certainly wont flourish. Better is most definitely possible! Check out the latest video from Chefs In Schools below.

In November 2020 we launched the TFP Foundation as a charitable embodiment of our purpose - to use food as a force for good by supporting food, health and education in children and young people. Through the TFP Foundation we donate 1p in every £1 of revenue, we give content, time and run specific fund raising projects, as well as bringing the power of thefoodpeople community, to ensure that we shift food provision and food education for future generations by partnering with aligned charities.
