Chef Isaac McHale, co-founder of the two Michelin starred The Clove Club restaurant, is set to open a new less formal, European eatery nearby on on Kingsland Road in London.
The new venue, called Bar Valette, will be situated on the site of the former Two Lights restaurant which was backed by the team at The Clove Club originally and is set to open this month. Leading the kitchen will be Erin Jackson Yates, who previously worked alongside Isaac McHale at The Clove Club, with a move away from the Set Menu focus towards an A La Carte offering here.
Speaking to The Standard in December, McHale said the food at the new venture would be "considered yet informal", with an interior layout designed for "interminable dinners fuelled by wine and sherry". McHale went on to say: "It's inspired by a simple love of Spanish cooking, with French influences. It will be about amazing seafood and game, meat and dairy. We'll be using the same producers as we do at the Clove Club and there will be some crossover."
