Los Angeles chicken chain Dave's Hot Chicken, backed by singer Drake, has confirmed the location and opening date of its first UK outlet, next month in London's Piccadilly.
The first Dave's Hot Chicken outlet will open its doors on 7th December on Shaftesbury Ave in Picadilly, at a two-floor, 90-cover site.
Back in July, the scrappy late-night pop-up turned hot chicken QSR chain, announced that it had signed an agreement with Azzurri Group to open 60 locations across UK & Ireland.
Azzurri Group is one of the UK's largest and most successful hospitality investment platforms. The Group operates two leading national Italian full-service brands, Zizzi and ASK Italian, the UK's leading quick-service Italian, Coco di Mama and renowned Irish fast casual Mexican restaurant brand Boojum.
"We know there is an opportunity to make Dave's Hot Chicken one of the iconic restaurant brands, and we do that by partnering with incredible operators, like Azzurri Group," said Bill Phelps, CEO of Dave's Hot Chicken. "The flavor of Dave's Hot Chicken resonates across borders, and we're looking forward to the first UK store getting open soon."
One potential change to the classic Dave's Hot Chicken in the UK is the omission of its famously spicy Reaper chicken, a meal it's unsure about serving up due to its extreme spice. "We are still in discussions as to whether the Reaper will make it onto UK plates," commented Jim Attwood, managing director of Dave's Hot Chicken UK. "Of course, if the nation truly wants to test the hottest chicken in the world, we could be convinced."
