Deliveroo Launch First Real-Life Store, Deliveroo HOP

Delivery giant Deliveroo have launched their first bricks and mortar store in London this month with their new Deliveroo HOP concept to complement their Deliveroo HOP rapid grocery delivery service.

The all-new store has opened in London's New Oxford Street and has hints of an Argos-type format whereby you can enter and order your groceries on a digital system before it's all packed and prepared for you. Alternatively, order using the app and either collect in person or have your shopping delivered to you. The concept has been developed by Deliveroo in collaboration with British supermarket chain Morrisons, with over 1,750 grocery items available from across Morrisons' 'Ready to Eat' and 'The Best' ranges, as well as your staple items, snacks and ingredients.

"We're opening our doors and welcoming commuters, local residents, visitors and day-trippers into our first Deliveroo high-street grocery store in the U.K.," Deliveroo COO Eric French explained. "Our New Oxford Street store promises a new way to shop for Deliveroo customers, giving them even greater flexibility and choice and should help boost the local area with nearly two thirds of shoppers saying they will visit other nearby shops as they come to shop with Deliveroo."

The move comes after Deliveroo established, through the shopping data they have available from customer habits, that on average, nearly half of all shoppers are now buying groceries once every two to three days, moving away from the habitual weekly shop. What's more, in the capital, one in four now use rapid grocery services once a week for their groceries.
