Gizzi Erskine & Professor Green Create Passo Pizza Pop-up

One of the most popular events during the early days of lockdown was 'Giz & Green's Monday Night Fakeaway', dreamt up by Gizzi Erskine and Professor Green as way of recreating their favourites while unable to visit them in person.

From cracking the secret sauce in McDonald's Big Macs to making the perfect Wagamama Katsu Curry, the fakeaway concept proved extremely popular, so much so that their take on Dominos Pizza has now seen them launch their own pizzeria at Shoreditch restaurant Passo.

The duo's version of the deep dish pizza, using a rye sourdough base, caught the imagination of fans and impressed many with its supreme tasty for many attempting pizza at home for the first time. On offer at the official Giz & Green's are flavours such as Hawaiian, Pepperoni, Veggie and a Chicken BBQ collaboration with Tabasco Chipotle Sauce.

Their new business also features a new initiative to help chefs, and front of house staff get back to work, which Erskine has encouraged those in need to get in touch for potential employment ahead of the launch.

Speaking of their creation, Gizzi Erskine said: "The hospitality industry has taken a devastating hit through lockdown, and whilst the delivery sector has done its best to adapt, the supply chain is still really struggling. We are hoping to give an opportunity to local chefs and producers to get back to work."

Professor Green: Learning to cook these 'Fakeaway' recipes was a Godsend and a real laugh during lockdown in Morocco. It's been so cool seeing the amazing response and it feels great to be able give back, especially considering I grew up in East London."

The pop-up will be taking over the whole of Passo upon reopening, available for both dine-in and delivery or collection.
