Heinz Beanz have updated their bean offer with 5 new flavoured varieties. Targeting lunchtimes, they include Cheddar Cheese, Garlic & Herbs, Barbecue, Curry or a burst of Fiery Chilli!
Adding to that, they’ve gone all grown up and have also added a blend of five nourishing beans in the Heinz sauce you know and love. The delicious mix of haricot, red kidney, pinto, cannellini and borlotti beans provide one of our five-a-day in just three tablespoons and goes perfectly on the side of any plate or on toast or a jacket potato. It’s just like baked beans – but even better for you.
Here’s some bean facts!
Haricot - This much-loved bean is creamy white with a smooth, slightly nutty flavour. The Haricot bean originates from North America where they are known as the 'Navy Bean' and are used in the nations favourite Heinz Beanz
Red Kidney - Known as the 'chilli bean' as these are often used in Chilli Con Carne, red kidney beans are sweet in flavour and packed full of protein.
Borlotti - Red and speckled, these beans have a nutty flavour and are known as 'cranberry beans'. They are very popular in Italian, Portuguese and Greek cooking and have a sweetish flavour with a smooth creamy texture.
Pinto - Popular in Spain and Mexico cooking, Pinto means 'painted' in Spanish. So-called because of its mottled colour (similar to that of a Pinto horse) these beans turn pink when cooked.
Cannellini - Dubbed the white kidney bean these are widely used in Italian cooking, When cooked, they have a fluffy texture and a slightly nutty, mild flavour.
