Hollywood star Danny Trejo, of Heat, ConAir, Breaking Bad and many other hits, has announced that he's bringing his Trejo's Tacos to the UK kicking off with a Notting Hill, London, location.
The Trejo's Tacos chain first launched in Los Angeles back in 2016, a collaboration between LA-born Trejo and film producer Ash Shah, before expanding to seven locations across California.
The first UK Trejo's Tacos location opening is set for Portobello Road towards the end of 2023 and will be across two floors with seating for 100 in a 3,000 sq ft space. The restaurant will feature a cocktail bar, DJ set up and offer burritos and tacos throughout the day and evening. The menu features a wide range of tacos such as steak asada, blackened salmon, Baja-style beer-battered fish, and asada-style mushroom as well as shrimp tostadas and other dishes.
"When we launched Trejo's Tacos in LA, our aim was to serve a better version of Mexican food that won't clog your arteries," explained Trejo when commenting on the UK expansion. "In Mexican cooking, recipes are handed down through generations, and that's what inspired this whole concept: generations of my family's recipes. We've taken out the stuff that isn't healthy, without losing the great taste and flavour.
"I'm so ready to bring Trejo's Tacos to London. I love the creativity that the city inspires, and I can't think of a better place to launch internationally than with our friends in London."
The chain's UK expansion comes in collaboration with a number of figures from the UK industry as CEOs and advisors, including Meatliquor Founder, Yianni Papoutsis and restauranteur Jerome Armit, of Crazy Bear Fitzrovia.
