Online publication Hot Dinners is celebrating St Patrick's Day with the launch of its ninth annual Murphia List, highlighting Irish talent across London's food and drink scene.
Showcasing a range of chefs, restauranteurs, founders and managers of pubs, bars and cafes across the capital, as well as producers, front of house and behind the scenes too - the Murphia List is a who's who of Irish talent in the hospitality industry in London.
In no particular order, those highlighted in this year's list include:
Clare Smyth MBE - Chef Patron, Core by Clare Smyth
Clare moved to England at the age of 16 having grown up on a farm in Country Antrim before building her illustrious career working at Alain Ducasse's Le Louis XV with Gordon Ramsey for 13 years. She went on to become the first and only British female chef to hold three Michelin stars. Clare opened her first restaurant, Core, in Notting Hill in 2017.
Diarmuid Goodwin - Head Chef, Sager + Wilde
Having grown up just outside Belfast, Diarmuid found his love for food on his grandparents' dairy farm in Couty Tyrone before stepping into Hospitality at the age of just 15 years old working at Nick's Warehouse in Belfast. A move to London saw him apprentice under Angela Hartnett before eventually moving to run the popular Sager + Wilde in Bethnal Green.
John Nugent - CEO, Green & Fortune
Formerly the MD of Corrigan Restaurants and Searcy's, John Nugent, orginally from Dublin, was a popular choice to take over the catering at King's Plkace in London's King's Cross. On the recently developed site he heads up the riverside restaurant, Rotunda, as well as King's Place Events and the Green & Fortune Cafe. Nugent also leads a restaurant at Sea Containers amongst other venues across the capital.
Cormac Gibney - Bar Manager, Gibney's London
Hialing from Dublin, Cormac was born into the hospitality industry thanks to his family pub, Gibney's of Malahide. He spent his teenage years working in the pub before expanding his knowledge and mixology skills in New York working at Pier A Harbour House and CASK. Having moved back to Ireland in 2018 to take on the role of Assistant Bar Manager of the family pub, he then took the step over to London to become Bar Manager of, first, Daffodil Mulligan before making the more to Gibney's London, the family's first international location since its opening in 1937.
Sinead Mallozzi - CEO, sketch
Originally from County Clare, Sinead was formerly the youngest and only female London hotel General Manager. Since then she's moved into events and is behind London's first ice rink at Somerset House. She now holds the position of CEO of London's sketch group, including its three Michelin-starred restaurant, as well as doing charity work for Place2Be as well as Hospitality Action alongside too.
