Melbourne is soon to receive a cool new 'Challenge Room Hotel' where you can play and drink your way through the room as part of an interactive bar experience, taking cues from The Grand Budapest Hotel and Willy Wonka's chocolate factory.
The game-filled bar, Hijinx, is set to open in Chadstone, Melbourne, new entertainment precinct; an exciting development area that has been dubbed The Social Quarter. Hijinx comes from the Funlab brand who also boast a bowling alley come bar, Strike, as well as the Holey Moley mini golf bars. Funlab also opened its first Hijinx Hotel in Sydney earlier this year following this new escape rooms meet bar concept.
The new Chadstone site will play home to 10 game rooms filled with challenges, each full of recognisable homages to films and board games from the 80s and 90s.
Despite the name Hijinx Hotel, the rooms are definitely not for sleeping in - rather the opposite. From the moment you enter the venue you'll start the fun-filled experience with cocktails, themed drinks and much more. The full details of the games included are yet to be confirmed but the Sydney venue has proven popular already and the Melbourne version likely not to disappoint.
