Global online food delivery company Deliveroo has partnered with environmental initiative RETURNR in Australia to give customers the option to order their food in reusable containers.
RETURNR is an Australian environmental initiative that replaces single use takeaway packaging with equivalent reusable solutions. In Deliveroo's case, this means that consumers now have the option to receive their food delivery in one of the reusable stainless steel bowls provided as a refundable $6 fee when the bowl is returned to a participating location.
The scheme is already gaining momentum with several restaurants in the state of Victoria participating, including Hanoi Hannah, Tokyo Tina, Nosh, Crisp, Bowls Baby, Belles Hot Chicken, and Rice Kitchen.
RETURNR is founded by Jamie Forsyth, the man behind Australian success story KeepCup and someone who's very well dialled into the sustainability market. While KeepCup serves as a great solution to avoid the single use cups on a personal level, this new container model takes the concept a step further and provides the only reusable food/drink packaging that is truly managed cradle to cradle.
