June - This Month in Food & Beverage Trends

What was the industry talking about in this month 5, 10, 15 or even 20 years ago?

Each month, we'll be taking a look back through two decades of food and beverage trend forecasting, revisiting what was emerging, growing, and peaking during this month in years gone by.

  • 2008 - Jamie Oliver opened his first Jamie's Italian in Oxford. Restaurants in Bath, Kingston, Brighton and Cambridge would follow next.
  • 2012 - Pizza Hut launched their Hot Dog Stuffed Pizza Crust. Well, if you've got the machine to stuff crusts, you may as well make the most of it!
  • 2014 - London speciality bakery, Lola's teamed up with Marmite to create a brand new cupcake for Father's Day! This opinion-dividing treat had a chocolatey sponge, salted Marmite caramel centre and was topped with rich Marmite chocolate ganache. It sounded…divisive.
  • 2019 - Taco Bell launched their unique take on what a taco-inspired holiday might look like. The Bell, a Taco Bell Hotel and Resort opened its doors in Palm Springs, California.
  • 2023 - The World's 50 Best Restaurant awards were announced at a ceremony in Valencia, Spain. 2023 saw Central in Lima achieving the World's best restaurant accolade.

The best way to understand what's next is often to understand what came before. Discover the full story in our latest 20 Years in Food & Beverage Trends e-book, featuring two decades of trend evolution, consumer shifts and future opportunities.
