The annual 101 best restaurants list in Los Angeles has been unveiled by the LA Times - we take a look who came out on top and who else made the cut.
Now in its 10th year, the awards have spotlighted some of the best eateries in the area and also serve to highlight the flourishing foodie scene in LA and its diversity too. This year was no different with one quarter of the list being first timers, including an Inglewood bistro focused on West African flavours, as well as a Filipino rotisserie that doubles as a natural wine bar.
Topping the list is Kato, from Taiwanese American chef Jon Yao in the San Gabriel Valley. Following up in second is Justin Pichetrungsi's restaurant Anajak Thai in Sherman Oaks. Pichetrungsi has made a resounding name for himself and his food in LA, having already won the James Beard Award for Best Chef: California, back in June. Then rounding out the top three is Hayato, a unique seven-seat hideaway in Downtown LA, serving up Japanese food that saw Brandon Hayato Go and his team take top spot last year already.
The rest of the top 10 looks like this:
4. République, Hancock Park
5. Holbox, Historic South-Central
6. n/naka, Palms
7. Morihiro, Atwater Village
8. Providence, Hollywood
9. Moo's Craft Barbecue, Lincoln Heights
10. Bavel, Downtown L.A.
