Popular baker Lily Vanilli is set to launch her first afternoon tea, inspired by the Regency era, at the new look Theatre Royal Drury Lane in London's Covent Garden next month and it looks great!
With already a huge number of fans on Instagram, over 116,000 to be precise, self-taught baker Lily Jones is bringing a mouth-watering menu of sweet and savoury delights to the newly restored Grand Saloon of Theatre Royal Drury Lane. Enjoy a dark chocolate sponge cake or stunning pink lemonade tarts or a mini sticky toffee pudding with a centre of custard and salted caramel that's ready to ooze out over the plate as you dig in.
For the savoury flavours, expect to enjoy madeleines adorned with glazed salmon as well as Lily Vanilli's signature puff pastry sausage roll filled with Cornish sausage meat, roast bacon lardons and a cider vinegar deglaze. Yum.
There's also the usual afternoon tea treats to enjoy including scones with salted whipped butter, cream and homemade jams.
Fans of Bridgerton can live out their fantasies at this eye catching venue with the classic Regency theme running throughout the decor, service and across hints of the menu too.
"Ladies and gentlemen... friends, sisters, queens! I'm so happy to formally invite you to join me for afternoon tea in the Grand Saloon at the Theatre Royal Drury Lane. From October 18th we will throw the mahogany doors open and officially invite you to bring the drama (and your most fabulous look), sip champagne and eat cake Regency style under glittering chandeliers and towering cakes. I will reveal the full, decadent menu in all its glory over the coming weeks but for now just know there will be a trolley bringing you absinthe and mint chocolate chip ice cream, Taittinger Champagne, Rare Tea Company teas, uniforms by Charles Jeffrey, a fabulous terrace and not a sandwich in sight. This is a modern, fun afternoon tea, designed with you in mind - full of things you actually want to eat and set in the most glorious rooms in the city."
