Fitz's Bar, based in London's Kimpton Fitzroy hotel, has launched what it's calling the world's first synaesthesia-inspired cocktail menu, a condition that allows some people to taste colours.
The drinks list, named SPECTRUM, features a selection of 12 cocktails each crafted to let you taste the nuances of colour and explore how each hue resonates with emotions, memories, and flavours.
Synaesthesia is a condition in which someone experiences things through their senses in an unusual way, for example by experiencing a colour as a sound, or, in this case, a colour as a flavour.
Massimiliano Bosio, Fitz's Bar Manager and formerly of Homeboy and the D&D London group, says, "We're delighted to introduce the SPECTRUM cocktail menu, a first of its kind that combines the art of mixology with the sensory magic of synaesthesia. Each drink tells its own colourful story, offering an immersive experience for our guests. We can't wait for people to explore the flavours of the spectrum in a truly unique way."
Fitz's Bar, nestled in Russell Square, is looking to bring this rare phenomenon to life through its unique cocktail menu which includes the Black Hole, drawing on the mysterious allure of its namesake, featuring a mix of Sipsmith VJOP Gin, Corte Vetusto Mezcal, banana, walnut, shiitake mushroom, and Amontillado Sherry. Then there's the Taboo cocktail delivers a perfect mix of sweet and spicy whilst sticking with a darker hue. The drink features Cazcabel Tequila and Peat Monster Whisky, together with mandarin, chilli, pineapple and strawberry.
