MBE for Clare Smyth, Chef Patron Restaurant Gordon Ramsay

Clare Smyth, Chef Patron of Restaurant Gordon Ramsay, one of only four restaurants in Britain awarded three Michelin stars, will collect her Member of the Order of the British Empire (MBE) at an Investiture to be held at Buckingham Palace on the 19th December 2013.

The award, which was granted earlier this year by Her Majesty The Queen, recognises Clare's significant achievements and will be the culmination of what has been a tremendous year for Restaurant Gordon Ramsay.

Smyth had previously held the position of Head Chef at Restaurant Gordon Ramsay since 2007. The restaurant underwent major internal refurbishment earlier this year, reopening in March 2013 with the announcement of Clare's promotion to Chef Patron.

The Good Food Guide - the UK's best selling restaurant guide, also awarded Chef of the Year 2013 to Clare.

Commenting on her award by her majesty The Queen, Clare said, 'The past year has been incredible. When I received the news of my MBE, I couldn't believe it. it is such as honour to be recognised by my country in this way. British gastronomy is some of the very best in the world and I am very proud to be British.'

Restaurant Gordon Ramsay is the flagship venue of the Gordon Ramsay Group and is at the fore of British gastronomy. it has held three Michelin stars for more than 12 years.

Earlier this year, Rob Rose, the restaurant’s Manager, received an MCA (Master of Culinary Arts) in restaurant service and management. The prestigious awards are run by the Royal Academy of Culinary Arts and are the highest honour in the UK’s catering industry.

The restaurant also won toptable Diners’ Choice Award for Best Service in October. Toptable is the leading consumer destination site for restaurant bookings in the UK along with its parent company, OpenTable.Most recently (December 12th), toptable announced too that Restaurant Gordon Ramsay is now ranked Number 1 in the Diner’s Choice Top 100 Best Restaurants in the UK.

Commenting on the restaurant's recent successes, Gordon Ramsay said, 'It's been an amazing 15 years at Royal Hospital Road and the restaurant just keeps going from strength to strength. The entire team is a credit to themselves, from Jean Claude - Maitre D' - who has been with us since we opened in 1998, to Clare who took over as head Chef in 2007. I'm just so extremely proud that not only the restaurant's guests have rewarded their dedication and consistency, but also Clare's talent and contribution have been recognised with the honour of an MBE.'
