The McDonald's McRib, a tender pork patty burger with tangy barbecue sauce, pickles and onions, served in a classic homestyle bun, was a cult favourite following its debut in 1981 but since disappeared from our menus. This October, after a near 10-year hiatus, the burger returns to menus for a limited time only.
Thomas O'Neill, Head of Menu at McDonald's UK said: "It is more than just a sandwich; it's a phenomenon. We have heard our fans loud and clear – the fan petitions and pleas on social - and after almost a decade of anticipation, we are thrilled to bring back this iconic menu item.
Knowing how well-loved the McRib is, we had very little choice - we had to make it happen. It was time to step up and satisfy the cravings of McRib enthusiasts across the country."
The relaunch of the McRib also coincides with the introduction of McDonald's new, seasonal Halloween menu, which features three brand-new items - Cheese Bites, Toasted Marshmallow Latte and Toasted Marshmallow Hot Chocolate. The other highlight addition to the ghoulish menu this month is the return of the McCrispy Deluxe, with a 100% chicken breast fillet in a crispy coating topped with hot and spicy mayo, caramelised onion compote, seasonal lettuce, bacon, red onions and a cheddar cheese slice, packed into a sourdough style bun.
