MFEST: A Unique Family Festival for Summer 2012

Mmm, MFest. M for music? M as in Mmm for yummy food? Good guesses, and almost right. The M stands for Morrisons as in supermarket! But this isn’t just a festival of Morrisons products, it does indeed included food, but also has headlining music acts such as Texas, The Human League and Bob Geldof.

Morrisons are headline sponsors of a groundbreaking addition to the summer festival calendar.  On 7th and 8th of July in the grounds of Harewood House, MFEST will be a delicious mix of fantastic music, comedy, children’s entertainment and sport – all served up with an incredible fresh food experience.

More than the crowd’s ears will be filled at this jam-packed event though:  food will be at the heart of MFEST with overflowing food and drink stalls.   Revellers will be treated to live demonstrations from incredible UK chefs, such as Aldo Zilli, Nigel Haworth, Atul Kochhar, Pierre Koffmann and Bryn Williams and kids and adults can get involved themselves making tasty treats from scratch and gobbling their scrumptious creations in between special play and entertainment zones all catered specifically to each age group.   Young gardeners can get digging too, with Diarmuid Gavin holding green fingered events at the Morrison Let’s Grow Patch.

Richard Hodgson, Morrisons Group Commercial Director, said:

“MFEST will be a unique addition to the festival market with not only a glittering array of entertainment for all ages, but a brand new, reinterpretation of festival food:  from fantastic gourmet meals, to on-the-go treats, to live demos and interactive stalls for everyone to get involved and get creative.  We are incredibly excited to be the lead sponsor with such an incredible line up planned and thrilled that our food will be keeping the crowds going at the inaugural MFEST experience.”

Classic acts such as Texas, The Human League, Bob Geldof, Paul Heaton, The Levellers, Beverley Knight, Heaven 17, Inspiral Carpets, Secret Affair, Glen Matlock, Soul II Soul and The Farm will share the stage with chart favourites Cher Lloyd, Matt Cardle and Scouting for Girls during the two day extravaganza.  Add to this some new British breakthrough artists like The Low Suns, Clement Marfo and The Frontline, Missing Andy, Steve Appleton plus sports personalities and comedy acts, MFEST is set to be the headline event of the summer for families.  The event is set to help Morrisons charity, Raise a Smile, reach a target of £500,000 for Save the Children.

With a capacity of 15,000 on each day, MFEST gates will open at 11.00am, with the first act taking to the stage at 1.00pm.  Those camping for three days can enter the grounds at 2pm on Friday the 6th.

The overall line up includes current chart acts, breakthrough artists and heritage bands, comedy acts, sporting legends and children’s entertainers to give the festival a wide appeal for difficult to please youngsters and mums and dads alike.
