Eighteen new one-star awards announced, with The Ritz finally receiving the accolade, while one new restaurant in each of the two-star and three-star categories were also awarded. In total, the Michelin Guide 2017 assessed 3375 establishments, 2144 of which were restaurants, and 1231 hotels and guesthouses.
After a six month stint in Australia, Heston Blumenthal's The Fat Duck still managed to attain three-star status, the only restaurant to be upgraded to this level in the awards. The Fat Duck joins Gordon Ramsey in London, Mayfair's Alain Ducasse at The Dorchester, and Michel and Alain Roux's Waterside Inn as one of four three-star restaurants in the UK.An
Raby Hunt was the only two-star addition to the list this year, with chef and owner James Close delighted to join an elite of UK restaurants that can boast the award. Raby Hunt joins 20 other establishments on two-star status, alongside the likes of Dinner by Heston Blumenthal, Restaurant Nathan Outlaw, Le Gavroche, The Ledbury and more.

Gilpin Hotel & Lake House - Windermere, Cumbria
Sosban & The Old Butchers - Anglesey, Wales
James Sommerlin - Penarth, Wales
Heron & Grey - Dublin, Republic of Ireland
In total, three restaurants lost their two-michelin star status, with Hibiscus closing before the awards, and The Latymer and The Square both losing out. In the one-star category, 13 venues were downgraded, giving an increase year-on-year of just five.
