The annual Michelin Guide for the UK and Ireland has been released after last night's ceremony at Waterloo's BFI IMAX Cinema, where the list of restaurants that have achieved their Michelin Stars for the year were named, those who take home the ultimate accolade for chefs around the world. We take a look at who's made the cut for 2019.
The first eye catching addition to the list from our perspective was seeing Ikoyi win its first star. Speakers at this summer's tfp Culinary Congress, we were thrilled to see the guys behind this exciting new concept gain the recognition they deserve for such great food and atmosphere at the London venue.
Heading to the top of the list, there was little change with five restaurants retaining their stars. Three London venues occupied the top spots, with The Araki, Restaurant Gordon Ramsay and Alain Ducasse at the Dorchester, while Bray's two exemplary venues, Heston Blumenthal's Fat Duck and Alain Roux's Waterside Inn.
Clare Smyth, winner of Best Female Chef in The World's 50 Best Restaurant awards earlier this year, jumped straight into the Guide with two stars at her restaurant Core, in Kensington, London.
We're pulled together a full list of all the winners over on our trendshub - view the report here.
