New Openings February 2024

Explore the latest openings across food and drink from around the world in February as we highlight six of the new establishments to open their doors last month, from our longer list of new openings on tfp trendhub.

Pitzi, Hobart
Fico, one of the most highly coveted restaurants in Hobart, has opened the doors to sister restaurant, Pitzi. Owners Federica Andrisani and Oskar Rossi have partnered with Dana Gleeson to open the aperitivo bar which is walk-in friendly. With space to seat thirty covers, it is a bright space with retro orange tiles and works by Rossi's father, the late Tom Samek. The a la carte menu is described by Rossi as featuring "heaps of stuff we don't usually get to do" including variations on focaccia and a variety of pasta dishes.

Twice Shy, London
The team behind the much-lauded cocktail bar Amaro have opened the doors to Twice Shy. They have created an intimate space that is elegant with a black marble bar and walls that are dressed in geometric woodwork and shimmering gold. Elon Soddu and Victor Maggiolo have created a rotating menu of simple cocktails that stick to one or two main ingredients and flavours. That means the likes of Nougat & Vodka or Jasmine & Whisky which uses tea and apple to round out a smokey taste. And if you're peckish, indulge in burrata, charcuterie and focaccia sandwiches.

Sip & Guzzle, New York
Industry legend Shingo Gokan is back in New York to open Sip & Guzzle, the sister venue to the SG Club in Tokyo. He is once again collaborating with Employees Only Singapore's Steve Schneider having previously created The Odd Couple in Shanghai together. Spread over two floors, the ground floor is Guzzle which is overseen by Schneider who is offering refined versions of the classics like the Apple Manhattan with bacon-infused rye whiskey whilst the basement level sees speakeasy-style Sip where customers can experience Gokan's technique-driven concoctions. Guests can enjoy bar bites from the izakaya-inspired menu created by Mike Bagale formerly of Chicago's Alinea restaurant.

Carna by Dario Cecchini, Hong Kong
The legendary butcher Dario Checchini has opened the doors to his latest project, situated inside the newly opened Mondrian Hong Kong. This is the third location of his Italian steakhouse, Carna by Dario Cecchini, which promises to transport you to the village of Panzano in the Chianti region of Tuscany. Serving Tuscan dishes, the menu includes appetisers such as deep-fried beef meatballs with bone marrow and pan-seared scallops with cauliflower puree. As for the mains, choose from a range of charcoal-grilled cuts like porterhouse, beef chuck flap and bone-in ribeye.

CLAP, London
"Sensory Japanese dining" restaurant CLAP has opened its doors in London's Knightsbridge having made its debut in Beirut five years ago with further locations in Dubai and Riyadh. It is spread across three floors in Basil Street with a main dining room with an open kitchen and sushi and robata counters, a street-level cafe for a quick bite and a rooftop bar that offers views across the city. The menu is split into sections including bites, raw and main courses with dishes including Corn Shrimp Tempura, Hokkaido Scallop with Piquillos Salsa and Black Cod with Sweet Citrus Miso Sauce and Hajikami Shoga.

Louisa Coffee, Singapore
Taiwan's Louisa Coffee is the latest coffee chain to arrive in Singapore, opening its doors in Guoco Midtown. Founded in March 2006, the Taipei-based chain currently operates 510 stores in its native market and a further two in Thailand. On the menu are both signature and Singapore-exclusive items with a range of espresso-based drinks including the Geisha specialty range and lceccino range along with a range of unique drinks like the Orange Peel Latte and the Black Sesame Latte. There's a choice of food with their signature, the Boston Cream Pie, available in original, matcha, black sesame, taro and chocolate.
