Sancho Taqueria & Tequileria, Stafford Road, Brisbane
Opened by Amanda Scott of Farmhouse Kedron and Oh Boy, Bok Choy!
The restaurant is based on New Mexican cuisine that is inspired by Amanda's connection to Albuquerque. The menu includes handmade sopaipillas, tacos pork carnitas, 14-hour brisket, grilled agave chicken and sugarloaf cabbage with wildflower smoked chilli honey.
Drinks are a curated list of tequila and mezcal, with six margaritas, cocktails, Spanish and New Zealand wines plus Mexican inspired non-alcoholic drinks.
The Daily Spin Bakery & Bistro, Sham Shui Po, Hong Kong
The Daily Spin Bakery and Bistro has opened in Sham Shui Po.
The name comes from the business being a vinyl café featuring Mong Kok's, Zoo Records. The front of the café has the vinyl collection where guests can shop and buy records. Drinks and food are served further back with pour over coffee, honey toast and seasonal fruit sandwiches on offer. The bread is baked in-house by the owner.
Maggie & Mac's, Inner Sunset, San Francisco
Maggie & Mac's is by Scott and Caitlyn Morton and is named for their children.
Food is all about American comfort food with twice-baked potato skins topped with cheddar, bacon and chipotle crema. The Goldilocks Caesar salad is topped with Dungeness crab and an anchovy-lemon dressing. They also serve burgers, meatloaf, salads and pizza. The children's menu has house-made 'Uncrustables', grilled cheese stuffed with a burger patty and child-size pizzas, which adults and children can both order.
Hiyori Coffee, 6th Avenue, Vancouver
Hiyori Coffee is known for pop-ups, competition wins and small batch coffee roasting and they have now opened their first bricks and mortar café.
The owners want guests to focus on their coffee and have banned laptops being used on the premises. The coffee shop is a Japanese-style roaster by Shinya Furue who has a cult following, the coffee changes over the months with a Costa Rican natural coffee being the opening choice. The coffee is served in handmade cups from Japan; each one has its own individual personality.
No. 11, Pangbourne, Reading
No. 11 in Pangbourne, Reading is by owner, restauranteur and Chef Sean Meston who has worked at the Hand and Flowers and London Street Brasserie.
The menus are all about locally sourced and seasonal ingredients featuring on weekly rotating menus and a seasonal a la carte menu. There is also a Sunday Roast Service, with chicken, beef, pork and vegetarian options. The menu features classic dishes and twists on old favourites. Starters include Seared Diver Scallops served with Pineapple, Capsicum Salsa and Pancetta Crisp. Mains cover fish, meat and vegetarian offerings including Venison Pavé with Dauphinoise Potatoes, Roscoff Onion and Red Wine Jus. Classic desserts include Sticky Toffee Pudding with Devonshire Clotted Cream and Eton Mess.
The Irish Exit Pub, Centennial Yards, Atlanta, Georgia
The Irish Exit Pub is by the Dead Rabbit Group and has opened in Downtown Atlanta.
The bar is Irish-inspired serving Guinness, Irish Coffee, Craft Cocktails, Beer, Wine and Spirits. Frozen cocktails are on offer over the summer including a Piña Colada made using Teeling Irish Whiskey.
The food menu has quick meals like hot dogs, a spice bag, ham and cheese toasties and other Irish inspired dishes like Corned Beef and Cabbage Tacos and Irish Cheddar Burgers.
