In no particular order, six highlights from the comprehensive foodwatching and drinkswatching new opening reports are:
Bread Street Kitchen, 22 Bishopsgate, London
This latest opening is Gordon Ramsay's 100th opening to date. The restaurant is situated on the 59th floor of Bishopsgate and is London's 2nd highest restaurant. Food is served all-day; the dedicated Sports Bar has a 24-hour licence.
The menu is different to the other Bread Street Kitchen venues and includes Lobster Benedict for breakfast and a Galician T-Bone steak served for dinner. There is also a five-course tasting menu.
The Gopher, Manly, Sydney
The Gopher in Manly is a late-night basement bar that is based on a traditional Irish bar, named after the Manhattan Hell's Kitchen Gopher Gang.
There will be a rotating beer of the month imported from the UK that will be served alongside both Guinness and Kilkenny. Their signature cocktails are Hells Bells (a butter-washed Martini), and The Sinner which is a pineapple and habanero Margarita.
The food is all about hearty Irish pub classics that are redesigned as smaller portions for sharing.
The Greenhouse, Newstead, Brisbane
The Greenhouse is a waterfront, fire-led restaurant in Newstead, Brisbane and is by the Rebelo Group.
The menu is all about Modern Australian food that is cooked over charcoal and woodfire. The kitchen is led by Executive Chef Evan White, and he has several menu highlights including slow-roasted rotisserie chicken, a sharing lamb dish and Napoli style pizza that are cooked in a traditional oven. For dessert there is a gelato cart that is found in the surrounding parklands.
The Doghouse Distillery, Clapham Common, London
The Doghouse Distillery has opened a permanent bar just off Clapham Common, following a pop-up in the same place.
The bar will serve the distillery's own gin, vodka and moonshine and will have what they are claiming to be "the largest Old Fashioned Menu in London". They will also serve Old Fashioned flights for guests to sample different versions of the cocktail. Other drinks will include a selection of cocktails and beers including Guinness. Upstairs customers can find whiskies ageing in casks, the downstairs bar will be a Nashville Style Honky-Tonk Speakeasy.
Food will be in the guise of Gourmet Toastie Sandwiches, Charcuterie and Cheese Boards.
Brick Lane, Downtown, Los Angeles
Brick Lane in Downtown LA is named after the South Asian cultural hub in East London UK. The restaurant is by Chef Sanjay Rawat and restauranteurs Rishma Shariff and Sachin Nayyar.
The food uses modern techniques with traditional regional Indian flavours using fresh produce and ingredients from California. Food is cooked on a wood-fired grill and tandoor, and the menu has kebabs, slow-cooked and smoked dishes. Popular dishes include Applewood Smoked Butter Chicken, Slow-Cooked Lamb Neck with yoghurt and garlic naan and Aromatic Roasted Black Lentils, and Charred Japanese Sweet Potato with frozen yoghurt ice cream, chole masala, tamarind and mint sauce.
Kinda Nice, Brooklyn, New York
Kinda Nice is a female owned bar situated in Brooklyn, New York.
Owned by Patty Dennison and Ally Marrone it is a "high energy" cocktail bar that has Americana nostalgic vibes that is influenced by "late-night diner culture" and "dive bar spontaneity". They describe the cocktails as craveable with Guava Negroni, Greek Salad Martini and other playful, nostalgic drinks on the menu.
The food is based on diner fare with Devilled Eggs, Grilled Cheese with Tomato Soup and a Fried Chicken Sandwich with Pimento Cheese.
