New snack brand Pukpip has launched with a debut range of chocolate dipped frozen bananas which would otherwise have been rejected from export due to small imperfections.
The new Real Bananas range is available in a choice of milk chocolate coating or a vegan dark chocolate coating, with a white chocolate version also on the way. Each banana also serves to reduce waste given the way they're used. Responsibly sourced from Ecuador, each banana is one that would otherwise have been rejected from further use due to minor imperfections which includes being the wrong shape or size, or even just because there were too many on the bunch.
The range is designed for those looking for a healthier snacking option whilst also having a balance between something sweet. Each frozen banana comes in at between 152 to 161 calories.
Zara Gugen, managing director at Pukpip, said: "We know consumers are increasingly health conscious and actively looking for ways to improve their diet. Market research has shown that nine in ten consumers want to eat more fruit and veg. But with the demands of modern life, it's not easy to always eat well, get your five-a-day and enjoy great taste."
She continued: "With tighter HFSS regulation, we're also giving retailers more opportunities to stock healthier, HFSS-compliant options for consumers which still prioritise taste. We want to give consumers the best of both worlds; an easy way to enjoy more fruit and indulge in a permissible chocolate treat, enabling them to feel good about their choices."
