After an Easter weekend of chocolate indulgence, we turn our attention to some NPD coming from the cheese industry with news from Cathedral City, fridge cheese snacks from Cheesies and a new extra creamy brie from Président.
Starting with the latter, under its popular Président brand, Lactalis UK & Ire last week launched its new Extra Creamy Brie made using a special recipe which is says remains creamy even when served cold, and even creamier when baked. Part of their innovation comes from a new extra deep oval shape to the cheese.
Héloïse Le Norcy-Trott, Group Marketing Director for Lactalis UK & Ireland, expressed enthusiasm for the launch, highlighting its versatility in both hot and cold dishes. "Our latest addition to the Président lineup opens doors to new usage occasions, driving frequency of purchase and incremental sales," she remarked. "The melt-in-your-mouth texture of Président Extra Creamy Brie offers an extra level of indulgence, particularly when baked."
Elsewhere, Cathedral City recently launched a new 12kg Cheese Cake in collaboration with Iceland which was said to serve 40 - a huge wheel of cheddar cheese atop a cream cracker base. However some eagle eyed viewers spotted the 1st April as the Use By Date on the front of the box ... an early April fools which took many by surprise.
Finally, and a real product launch this time, savoury cheese snack brand Cheesies launched in Asda stores across the UK. These 20g snack bags from The Curators, are available in Cheddar, Red Leicester, Goat, Gouda and Chilli Cheddar varieties.
Discussing the new product launch, Cheesies' Director, Max Rees, says: "The arrival of ambient cheese on shelves next to crisps and nuts is still somewhat of a novelty, but it's revolutionary in that it means customers can enjoy their favourite snack without a risk of it getting warm or sweaty, whilst on-the-go.
"We're a nation of serial snackers and cheese nails the brief of being both nutritious and delicious. It's a traditional comfort food that delivers on taste and on all-important protein, calcium and vitamin content, whilst also being carb free and low on calories."
