With the Queen's Platinum Jubilee celebrations just around the corner now we've started to see themed foods and beverages appearing across retail. We've collated some of the highlights we've come across recently.
Thank Brew Campaign
Pubs and bars across the country are joining together for a charity campaign as part of the celebrations, led by The Good Beer Co, Adnams and Big Drop. The charity campaign is in support of 'The Big Jubilee Lunch' and 'Thank You Day' during the Jubilee Weekend.
The initiative invites each and every British pub, bar and brewery to lead their own celebrations to Her Majesty the Queen and their local community as a thank you for what has been a hugely challenging few years for the sector. Opening hours have also been extended for the bank holiday weekend, helping to facilitate celebrations across the country.
A number of leading brewers and beer brands have brewed a range of limited edition beers, all devised by Adnams production director Fergus Fitzgerald - the Thanks Brew. 100% of profits from Thank Brew sales will be donated to good causes.
Morrisons Corgi Cake
Supermarket chain Morrisons is selling a new novelty cake with a royal twist to celebrate the Jubilee - Clarence the Corgi. Topped with a Union Flag crown and red, white and blue sprinkles this is the perfect cake for a patriotic tribute come the long bank holiday.
Heinz Sauces Get A Royal Make Over
Two of the nation's favourite condiments have received a royal makeover in celebration of the Queen's Platinum Jubilee weekend, as Heinz Salad Cream is renamed to Heinz Salad Queen and HP Sauce becomes HM Sauce. Smart.
The move comes after a research poll from the brand found that half of all those asked said that the Jubilee is an opportunity to consume quintessentially British foods. Think strawberries and cream, fish and chips and afternoon teas.
Platinum Jubilee Cookbook
A new cookbook was released at the end of April to celebrate food and British diplomacy ahead of the Jubilee. The Platinum Jubilee Cookbook features 70 recipes from British embassies and high commissions, including Spanish marmalade from the embassy in Madrid, as well as a green fish curry dish from the Islamabad High Commission.
