This year, he says he’s got the message loud and clear that as everyone comes under bigger and bigger financial pressure, they want help to cook tasty, nutritious food on a budget, so this book was born completely out of public demand.

The book will be accompanied by 6, 30 minute TV shows, aired on Channel 4 and will use the restaurant trade’s money-saving secrets to inspire the nation to eat top-notch grub while spending less on their weekly food shop. In each episode Jamie will show that, with clever skills and a bit of know-how, viewers can serve up inspiring, tasty and nutritious meals no matter what their budget.
With the average UK household spending £2,467 a year on takeaways, Jamie hopes to prove that it’s possible to have your favourite dishes for far less dosh with a bit of clever shopping and some kitchen skills. Jamie will also tackle food waste and demonstrate how a little imagination can turn leftovers into tasty meals. Jamie will also go inside families’ fridges, to find out where food is being wasted and show ways to help prolong the life of food and save the pennies.
