Scottish news outlet The Scotsman has recently announced the launch of The Scran Awards, a celebration of some of the industry's best in food and drink across the country.
The awards are currently taking nominations ahead of a June ceremony in Glasgow, across 16 categories, each recognising a different sector of Scotland's flourishing dining, drinking and hospitality scene. These categories include:
Newcomer of the Year - for the individual or establishment which has made their dreams a reality - recognising the hard work and passion that goes into opening a business.
Sustainability Award - presented to an organisation or individual that puts sustainability and the environment at the heart of its business.
New Product of the Year - for new food and drink products brought to market in 2022 or a product that has been improved within this time.
Scottish Chef of the Year - presented to a chef who has shown inspiration and a desire to bring their restaurant/project to the next level and is at the heart and soul of that success.
Scottish Restaurant of the Year - recognising restaurants that provide cuisine of an excellent standard, as well as demonstrating innovation and providing a high level of hospitality.
Best Gastro Pub of the Year - recognising a gastro pub that prides itself on the high level of food it serves.
Best Craft Beer - recognising beer made by a brewery in which craftsmanship is key.
Best Whisky - recognising the vast offering of whisky available in Scotland and those who go above and beyond to be the best.
Outstanding Contribution to the Industry - a special award will be given to an individual who has shown commitment to their field, sector, industry or business.
