Already renowned for pushing the boundaries of cocktail making, The Savoy's Beaufort Bar has gone one step further to the final frontier by sending its innovative pop-up cocktail menu into space.
On Friday 17th April 2015, the Beaufort Bar's limited edition pop up menu was sent approximately 36 km above the earth's surface, becoming the first ever menu (and artwork) to do so. The menu was launched into near space with the use of a special balloon, and the resulting footage is breathtaking.
Since launching in late 2014, the pop-up cocktail menu has received world-wide recognition for both its design and concept. With the theme of journeys at its heart, the menu lets guests travel from light to dark, day to night and from country to country.
Head bartender Chris Moore says: "Since we began discussing the concept of our pop-up menu we have always spoken of the importance of it being a symbolic journey. Since then it has literally been on its own journey; through design, completion, release and distribution across the globe. This got us thinking: what's next? SPACE!"
How long before we will be sipping cocktails in outer space?
