Every dog has its day! That's the new motto of The Cornhusker, A Marriott Hotel, which has recently decided to relax its pet policy so travellers can sit and stay right beside their favourite furry friends.
The hotel in Downtown Lincoln, Nebraska has implemented a new policy allowing guests to skip the hassle of boarding their dogs or hiring a sitter. Instead, for a simple $75 nonrefundable deposit, visitors can lodge with up to two dogs totaling 50 pounds. Five rooms are available and designated as pet-friendly.
Upon check-in, travelers will receive a special pet package featuring welcome treats, food bowls and a dog bed, ensuring four-legged guests feel just as welcome as their human companions.
When it's time to let Fido or Fluffy out, visitors can take advantage of grassy areas surrounding the hotel or head to Rickman's Run Dog Park about 5.5 miles away from The Cornhusker. The plot of land across from Holmes Lake Park features plenty of space for pets to run and frolic.
Guests can head to the nearby Petco to pick up dog food or toys (souvenirs), or treat their pet to a special shampoo and grooming session at Bailey's Best Friends, less than 2 miles away. In the event of a pet emergency, visitors can rest easy knowing Jacobson Veterinary Clinic is just 2.6 miles from the hotel. For an after-hours emergency, the Veterinary Emergency Services of Lincoln is also a short 3 miles away and open all day Sunday.
The pet-friendly Lincoln hotel sports stylishly appointed accommodations with plenty of space for humans to get comfortable in, too. While pups snooze in their cozy beds, visitors can catch some ZZZs on cotton-rich sheets, plush down comforters and plenty of soft pillows. Catch up on business at large work desks with ergonomic chairs, and stay well-connected with high-speed Internet access. Humans can even order room service from the hotel's Miller Time Pub & Grill while enjoying their favorite TV show or pay-per-view movie. Mini refrigerators, complimentary bottled water, coffee makers and Thaan products are among the many additional amenities travelers won't bark about while visiting for business or leisure.
