After the inaugural Whisky 101 in October 2015, The Gallery in West Hampstead will kick off 2016 with Whisky 101: Burn's Night Tour of Scottish Whisky on Monday 25th January. Whisky 101 is designed to be an informative, interactive and entertaining tasting workshop which experiments pairing whiskies, beer and food. In honour of Burn's Night, the opening event of the series will possess a distinctly Scottish cadence.
The evening will be hosted by The Gallery's Bar Manager and resident beer and whisky enthusiast, Daniel Pavey. Daniel will lead guests on a single malt-based exploration of Scotland, illuminating different drams that best encapsulate the flavours of each unique origin. The journey will delve into the bronze fruitiness of the Lowland Auchentoshan Three Wood Whisky, through Speyside's full-bodied Glenfarclas 15 Yr Old to the intricate tones of Highland Dalmore 12 Yr Old. Guests will then be transported to the rugged Isle of Skye with the wild smokiness of Talisker 10 Yr Old and out to the peaty Islay with Caol Ila 12 Yr Old whisky. These whiskies will be complemented by samples of three Scottish beers rounded off with the Burn's Night staple: a serving of haggis.
The Whisky 101 series of intriguing monthly whisky evenings will continue throughout the year offering an insight into unique whiskies from around the globe for aficionados and novices alike.
