The Rise of the Modern Day Milkman - Muller Joins the Push

Multinational dairy product producer, Müller is set to boost the chances of a future for the UK's milk delivery service by investing in the country's largest electric fleet of vehicles for its Milk & More milk deliveries.

The dairy company will introduce 160 new electric milk vans, taking its fleet to just over 500 by May 2019 and in so doing Müller has become the UK's largest operator of electric vehicles.

Andrew Kendall, deputy CEO for Milk & More, said: "We are transforming the great British milkman into a modern, convenient delivery service which has a sustainable, environmentally friendly proposition at its heart. We are continually looking to reduce our environmental footprint, so customers can be assured that they are buying into a business that is fully committed to a sustainable circular economy."

Back at the end of 2016, we compiled a report titled 'Return of the Milkman' over on drinkswatching on our trendhub which looked at how the trend fitted into four of our mega trends at the time: People's revolution; Soothing Comfort; Ethical eating; and Once upon a time.

The report looks at the tradition in more detail, including its history and how the downturn of milk delivery took a turn for the good in 2016, finally increasing by a small but significant margin as thew modern day milkman has become re-invented.
