The World's 50 Best Restaurants 2019

The 25th June saw the annual World's 50 Best Restaurants awards announced, taking place for the first time outside of Europe, in Singapore. With a new ruling that saw any previous winner unable to re-enter the list, a new number one was crowned, with three Michelin star French restaurant Mirazur taking the top spot. British interests came with just two entries in the top 50 list, with London's The Clove Club taking 27th, just a few places ahead of Lyle's in 33rd.

In each of the awards to date, only restaurants from Europe or North America have taken the top spot, and this was no different this year. There was also the return of a familiar name in second, with the new Noma taking runner's up. Best Female Chef went to Daniela Soto-Innes of Cosme, New York, while the award of Best Pasty Chef went to Jessica Préalpato of Alain Ducasse au Plaza Athénée, Paris.

The top 10 was as follows:

1. Mirazur, France
2. Noma, Denmark
3. Asador Etxebarri, Spain
4. Gaggan, Thailand
5. Geranium, Denmark
6. Central, Peru
7. Mugaritz, Spain
8. Arpège, France
