The Yan at Broadrayne, a 17th century former farm on the outskirts of Grasmere opened to rave reviews in 2019 and has fast become known for its mouthwatering menu of extra-special comfort food, with everything made from scratch by Executive Chef Will Manley and his team. Following lockdown, the family-run gem has launched 'The Yan Untethered' - a food delivery service covering the whole of the UK.
Home-diners can sample starters including Ham Hock Scotch Egg with pea and horseradish dressing and roast pepper salad, Salmon cured with beetroot and horseradish with horseradish crème fraiche, croutons, dill and pickled shallot salad and freshly made soup, using seasonal vegetables from The Yan garden, crispy croutons and gruyere cheese.
Mains include traditionally-aged Cumbrian Beef Brisket, home smoked and served alongside loaded potato skins with bacon & smoked cheese, roasted corn on the cob, crunchy coleslaw and garlic green beans, The Yan Shepherd's Pie with slowly braised shoulder of Herdwick Hogget from Grasmere topped with creamy mash potato, cheddar cheese and cured ham and a side of parsley peas or The Yan's PASTY filled with mushroom, spinach, goats cheese and spring onion, served with a roasted tomato and garlic sauce and sautéed green beans.
All meals are created to be heated at home, allowing diners to enjoy high quality, wholesome and fresh restaurant standard food; all within the comfort of their own home.
Prices start from £5.95 for homemade soup or houmous and go up to £29.95 for a beef platter for two people with all the trimmings.
As well as launching its food delivery service, The Yan, which is run by the Keighley-Manley family, is offering a hot takeaway service and a click and collect heat-at-home-meal service for locals and holiday-makers staying in self catering accommodation.
