This May saw the annual London Wine Week event take place in the capital and we recapped our highlights which include Bubbles, Rosé All Day, Urban Wineries and more.
Held from the 13th to 19th May, London Wine Week is a seven day celebration of wine across the city with events happening all over each day of the week, from pop-up wine bars to al fresco parties, to bespoke wine flights at some of London's best wine bars.
Flat Iron Square, just south of Borough Market, acted as the hub for the event, while over 100 other venues hosted their own events. So whatever your drink, be it red, white, rosé, orange, sparkling, organic ... the list goes on ... there was something for everyone. Here are some of our key take outs:
Popularity of Fizz is Still Bubbling Away
The bubbly drinks trend is showing no signs of slowing, with the world of wine being no exception. We saw everything from canned spritzer to fizzy wine cocktails and more.
Rosé All Day
If you thought Rosé was so last year, think again. Everywhere we turned at London Wine Week we saw pink hued tipples aplenty, from rosé in a can, to pink fizz ... and everything in between.
The Urban Winery
Taking centre stage at London Wine Week was an exciting winery from the well known wine region of ... Bethnal Green! That's right - Renegade London Wine is based out of trendy East London, one of a number of urban wineries that have started to make their mark in both London and further afield.
Pairing Outside the Box
Staying on the think outside the box theme, we saw many an old school misconception being thrown away with new and exciting - and often unheard of - pairings. Fried chicken and cava anyone?
