We couldn't be more thrilled to announce the next speakers in the very exciting line-up for thefoodpeople's 13th Annual Food & Beverage Trend Summit, taking place virtually via Zoom on Tuesday 17th November 2026.
Joining us for this year's Summit are Amelia Boothman, Social, Cultural & Behavioural Specialist, and Dr Michael Bloomfield, PhD Cultural Anthropologist & Semiotician, bringing a wealth of expertise in understanding the cultural shifts, behaviours and consumer insights shaping the world around us.
Amelia has spent years identifying key cultural phenomena and semiotic interpretations, drawing on her studies in Experimental Psychology to uncover the emotional connections between consumers and their food and drink choices, as well as the wider social influences underpinning these behaviours.
Dr Michael Bloomfield brings over 25 years of experience uncovering the cultural meanings and consumer insights shaping brands, categories and emerging trends. Having lectured at several UK universities, Michael has also worked across multiple sectors and international markets, with clients including Nestlé, Procter & Gamble and the BBC.
Together, Amelia and Michael offer a fascinating perspective on the cultural and behavioural forces influencing how we think, feel and act as consumers, helping us make sense of the shifts that will shape the future of food and drink.
What will Amelia & Michael's session be about?
Amelia and Michael will join us to explore the behavioural and cultural influences underpinning our 2027/28 food and beverage predictions, unpacking the forces shaping how people live, think, feel and consume.
From how people are responding to uncertainty and finding new ways to experience pleasure, to how they're redefining value and taking greater ownership of their wellbeing, their session will explore the motivations and cultural shifts driving changing consumer expectations.
By looking beyond the trends themselves to understand the deeper human needs and behaviours behind them, Amelia and Michael will help us uncover what these shifts mean for the future of food and drink, and the opportunities they could present for brands and businesses.
