The winners of the 2023 edition of the Catey Awards, often referred to as the Oscars of the hospitality industry, have been announced last week with several big names awarded for their efforts across food and beverage in Britain.
Clare Smyth MBE, the first British female chef to win three Michelin stars, took the honours of individual Restauranteur of the Year for Core by Clare Smyth. Whilst the group accolade for the same award went to the Big Mamma Group and its five branches across London serving up an authentic Italian menu.
Another stalwart awarded for his commitment to the industry was French chef Raymond Blanc, honouring his services to hospitality with the Ruby Catey, also marking the 40th anniversary of the awards.
Fellow Michelin starred chef Jason Atherton was awarded the International Outstanding Achievement Award for his impact upon the global hospitality industry. Menu of the Year went to Kirk Haworth's Plates restaurant in London, Kirk being a speaker at our Online Food & Beverage Trend Summit last year. Watch the video from the summit with Kirk here.
whilst the Wine and Spirit Ambassador Award, for the person who has made a made a major contribution to the knowledge, understanding and promotion of wine, Champagne and spirits in the UK hospitality industry, went to Romain Bourger, of luxury 5* hotel The Vineyard in Berkshire - a former winner of UK Sommelier of the Year in 2019.
