Zomato restaurant guide launches in London

Zomato, South Asia's largest restaurant and night-life guide has made its way to London, launching its London section both on the web (http://zomato.com/london) and mobile. Headquartered in New Delhi, Zomato entered the Middle East market in 2012 with the launch of its Dubai section in September 2012 and has quickly expanded to Abu Dhabi and Sharjah in the UAE, and Colombo in Sri Lanka and now Doha in Qatar. Continuing its aggressive international expansion, Zomato has now entered Europe with London as its first market.

Zomato.com provides in-depth information on over 16,000 restaurants in the Greater London area, making it the most extensive restaurant discovery platform in London for anyone looking to dine out, get food delivered or order take-away. Zomato's strength is the information it provides on the restaurants - such as scanned menus, photos, mapped coordinates, and transit access. A new feature on the website, Dish Search, will also let users in London find restaurants serving their favourite dish from over 800,000 unique dishes served by the restaurants on Zomato London. On mobile, Zomato's location aware applications suggest the best restaurants around the user location. All of Zomato's features - menus, photos, mapped coordinates, ratings and reviews are available and fully supported on the mobile apps.

Zomato is now over four years old and gets over 10 million users every month who use the platform to discover the best places to eat around them. Deepinder Goyal and Pankaj Chaddah founded Zomato in July 2008 for restaurants in New Delhi. Since then, Zomato has expanded its services to 19 cities in India, United Kingdom, UAE, Qatar and Sri Lanka covering over 73,000 restaurants. Zomato plans to further expand its reach into continental Europe, Middle East, South America and South East Asia in 2013.

Deepinder Goyal, Founder and CEO of Zomato, said, "London is a very mature market due to high Internet and smartphone penetration among users accessing local information. When it comes to local coverage of restaurants, we feel that there is a huge need for Zomato's rich and comprehensive restaurant information. Our goal is to provide users in London with accurate and in-depth information about the restaurants around them before they make their decisions on where or what to eat. We are very excited to bring our product here and are expecting a great response from the bustling city of London! In our opinion, a better product always wins, and it will be interesting to see how we fare against established players like Yelp and Qype in London."
