Fast food chain Burger King has this month launched a new collaboration with global tortilla chips brand Doritos to create a new menu item, the Chilli Heatwave Chicken Fries across the UK.
Originally announced on 1st April on the QSR chain's social media, the launch was deemed by most as an April Fools but soon after both brands confirmed that the new menu item was indeed real and went live on menus around the UK the following week.
The new chicken fries come sprinkled with Doritos' signature, savoury orange dusting and represent the second collaboration between the two brands, following the release of the Whopper-flavoured Doritos last month.
Katie Evans, from Burger King UK, commented: 'We've been teasing this epic product launch all week long and it's clear our fans are no fools – they know a good thing when they see one.
'The launch of Doritos® Chilli Heatwave Chicken Fries is the latest new product development in our collaboration with Doritos®, and we're very excited to bring it to Burger King® restaurants nationwide,' she added.

This isn't the only cross-category collaboration we've seen of late, with several brand getting in on the trend. We've saw Coca-Cola and Ferrero join forces once again to launch the Tic Tac Sprite, the second collaboration following the Tic Tac Coca-Cola back in 2019.
"Our successful partnership with The Coca-Cola Company marked the coming together of two of the iconic global food and beverage brands," Ferrero global marketing manager Scott Perry from the global Tic Tac team. "Both brands are loved worldwide for bringing great-tasting goods to market. We're always on the lookout for how to boost consumers' senses even further, so the opportunity to create the first-ever Tic Tac inspired by the distinctive taste of Sprite, was too good to miss."
