Exploring Keto as Chipotle Adds New Keto Bowl to its Menu

January is the month of diets, or as we have seen this year the anti-diet, and QSR chain Chipotle is jumping on the bandwagon with the addition of a new Keto Bowl to its menu to make life easier for those doing the tough job of a Keto diet and still wanting to eat out occasionally.

What is Keto? Short for ketogenic, this diet plan is focused on reducing carbohydrate intake while increasing the amount of fats in your diet to train your body to use fat as an energy source. The average breakdown per nutrient on the Keto diet is around 60-75% fats, 15-30% from protein, and just 5-10% from fats, equating to less than 50g of carbs per day.

Alongside Paleo and Whole30 options, the Keto Salad Bowl is made up of; carnitas, red salsa, grated cheese, guacamole, lettuce, and contains 590 calories / 42g fat / 32g protein / 15g carbs / 8g fiber / 2g sugar per serving.

We recently took a deeper look at the Keto diet in a healthwatching report on our trendhub, covering the whats, whys and hows. Take a look at the report which also covers what foods fit the diet, and what's available - read it here.
