
Fancy a shot to take the edge off? Why not try a bartenders' favourite… Meet, the M&M! Boozy and big on flavour, the M&M was once a secretive shot enjoyed by industry folk, but now it's making its way onto the menus of bars around the world.
In its simplest form, "Monte & Mezcal" as some call it, combines Amaro Montenegro and mezcal in equal portions for a shot, or short drink over ice. But bartenders and mixologists don't stop at that, with experimentation aplenty. Think ingredient swaps, cocktail crosses, frozen twists… M&M sorbet, anyone? Or how about a 'mezcaloni' – aka M&M meets negroni, with mezcal, amaro and vermouth?
The simple formula of the M&M also creates a blank canvas for flavour exploration; indeed, the big flavours of the smoky mezcal and aromatic, herbal amaro encourage bold experimentation. Think smoked M&M cocktails with torched garnishes; Mexican M&M hot chocolate with monte and mezcal; or tropical twists with the addition of passionfruit, pineapple or coconut.
