National Curry Week Is Around The Corner

The temperatures may be dropping, but with National Curry Week just around the corner, 10-15th October, things are about to hot up in another way altogether. Street food specialists, The Epicureans, provide Londoners with a taste of authentic, modern and thrilling world street food cuisine at their World Food Markets, and two of their vendors in particular, Makatcha and House of Dodo, offer up some of the most flavoursome curries in town.

South East Asian vendor, Makatcha, has a menu bursting with a variety of fresh, mouth-watering Rendang dishes, a curry originating from Malay and Indonesian cuisine.

Examples from the menu include:

Chicken Rendang - Pulled chicken in homemade Rendang base, served with rice, vegetables, peanut sauce and Achar

Vegan Rendang - Mushroom and chickpea Rendang, served with rice, vegetables, peanut sauce and Achar

House of Dodo is the first Mauritian street food trader to urbanise this type of cuisine for London's casual dining scene, and their diverse, exotic and colourful curry dishes combine flavours that are sure to tantalise taste buds.

Examples of the menu include:

Coconut Beef - Beef slow cooked in Mauritian spices and fragranced with coconut and coriander, served with rice, picked vegetables, yoghurt, mango sauce, fresh herbs and chillies

Spicy Beans - Chunky lima beans in a curry sauces served with rice, picked vegetables, yoghurt, mango sauce, fresh herbs and chillies

Both of these vendors can be found at The Epicurean's World Food Market at St Katharine Docks every Friday, from 11-3pm, amongst a huge array of other street gastronomy specialists.
