Our latest monthly recap of the hottest new food and beverage openings from around the world on trendhub is live, spotlighting six highlight openings from April here on the blog.
In no particular order, six highlights from the comprehensive foodwatching and drinkswatching new opening reports are:
Holy Carrot, Spitalfields, London
Holy Carrot, by Irina Linovich and Daniel Watkins, has opened a second restaurant, this time in Spitalfields in London.
This second restaurant will not be fully vegan as they will be offering some vegetarian dishes too with the use of dairy and eggs. The menu will focus on fire-grilled vegetables along with miso-Marmite pizzettas cooked in their new pizza oven. There will be a more casual, bistro style atmosphere, with dishes mainly designed to share with others.
Bar Bambi, West Town, Chicago
Renowned global mixologist Katie Renshaw has launched Bar Bambi, a 'colourful and light-hearted bar, which is warm, whimsical and fun.'
Cocktails include The Three Decibel Rule, based on a lychee martini, made on a base of clarified lychee and bell pepper, with crème fraiche, washed vodka and Cocchi Americano; while The Skinny Dip is a take on a cream soda made with fig leaf-infused Havana Club rum and Thai banana – forced carbonated.
The food is by Chef Nicklus Byrns and includes snacks and elevated bar bites.
Choux & C, Marda Loop, Calgary
Choux & C is a French bakery and café in Marda Loop in Calgary.
The bakery specialises in hand-made Choux a la Crème aka Cream Puffs in different flavours such as Passion Fruit, Pistachio, Coconut, Macchiato and Crème Brûlée. They also serve traditional French pastries along with craft coffees inspired by their French roots such as a Breizh Latte, Berry Choux Latte and a Praline Latte.
Ruma Rooftop, Brisbane
Ruma Rooftop has been created by Hospitality Group, who are also behind Sunsets Rooftop.
The bar will be based around "food, good music, long tables and shared moments". Cocktails are tropical, featuring citrus, fresh herbs and refined island notes.
The food is centred on modern Australian sharing plates.
Bravo, Cracker Bay, Auckland
Bravo is an all-day eatery open from early until late.
They claim to serve excellent coffees, some ready to eat foods, with breakfast, bakery staples and lunch available to eat in or takeaway. They are also serving rotisserie chickens that are cooked daily along with salads made with seasonal ingredients. The food is all about New Zealand produce, featuring local seafood, and serving elevated classic dishes.
To entertain both small and grown-up children they have a games room filled with arcade games including Pac-Man, pinball, basketball hoops and claw machines.
El Siete, Soho, London
El Siete is a cocktail bar replacing the El Pastor basement bar. The bar is designed with a brutalist and modernist design similar to architecture in Mexico City. There is a central island bar with a terrazzo top and volcanic stone cladding.
The drinks, designed by the Soulshakers team, are seven margaritas, seven agave-based cocktails and seven updated classics. Their signature margarita is the 777 Margarita, which is served in a stainless steel flask that keeps it cold. They also have a Trio of Spicy Margaritas with escalating heat levels, seen via the colour of the drinks.
Food will be seven mini tostados, and chile de árbol popcorn.
