In no particular order, six highlights from the comprehensive foodwatching and drinkswatching new opening reports are:

Orion, Wimbledon, London

Orion is by Alex Webb, who was Master Chef the Professionals 2020 winner.

Chef Webb says the restaurant will be serving a blend of French and British food, predominantly served as sharing dishes and in particular sea food. The restaurant will have a fish counter that will highlight the catch of the day, king crab and oysters.

Menu items include mini crab waffles, lobster and prawn toast served with black sesame and chilli jam. Desserts include a twist on a Twix chocolate bar along with a choice of soft serve ice cream and a roaming dessert trolley.

Dingles Public House, San Francisco

Dingles Public House is by Chef George and Anissa Dingle, and is inspired by a British pub.

The walls are painted in British racing green with maroon booths with leather banquette seating, and a fireplace, just like you would find in many British pubs. The bar serves traditional British ales, lagers, Guinness and local craft beers. Cocktails are straightforward, such as the Sticky Bobby based on Scotch whisky, the 007 Martini, and there is a selection of wine, including wines from the UK.

Food includes sausage rolls with homemade brown sauce, Welsh Rarebit, Scotch Eggs and mains include Fish and Chips with mushy peas, tartare sauce and curry sauce, or a Beef and Guinness Pie served with bone marrow.

Meno Zero Gelato & Dessert Bar, Balwyn North, Melbourne

Meno Zero is opening their second store, serving small batch gelato and artisan desserts.

They make everything fresh daily from traditional Italian recipes. As well as gelato, they serve shakes made with gelato, smoothies made with yoghurt, coconut water, milk, and gelato, and cannoli - including gluten-free - in vanilla, chocolate, lemon custard, Sicilian, and chocolate ricotta. They also serve crêpes and coffee.

Padre Brewing Company, Miami, Gold Coast

Padre Brewing Co., has opened a new bar in Miami on the Gold Coast in Australia.

There are fourteen beers on tap and including classic Aussie lager and French pale ale. The owners are locals who aim to use as much local produce as possible for both food and drink.

Gilmore & Damian D'Silva, Singapore

Gilmore & Damian D'Silva is by Chef Damian D'Silva, who was a judge on MasterChef Singapore and owner of Restaurant Rempapa.

His new restaurant seats 68 diners and is in tribute to D'Silva's grandfather who is known as Pop who worked in the same building that the restaurant is in.

The menu features sharing dishes, with both heirloom Eurasian dishes along with Chinese dishes inspired by Pop.

Ruby's Wine Shop, Albion Brisbane

With only 20 seats, Ruby's Wine Shop is a cosy space made to feel like a Swiss neighbourhood wine shop.

Named after owner Tamara Husler's border collie, Ruby's is about sustainable, minimal intervention wines. There are over 100 wines in stock, six of which are by the glass daily. Clients can bring their own snacks, or they can buy food from local businesses.
