Each December our trends team compiles the annual Christmas categorywatching report covering everything we've seen happening - and what's been missing this year too - over on the tfp trendhub. In advance of the full report being published, we've highlighted 12 Christmas trends covered in the report and have revealed these one by one each day over on our Instagram feed. See below for trends seven to 12.
7. Re-Use – Our seventh Christmas trends reveal is re-use. Creative ways of using ingredients so they don't even have the chance to reach the compost bin have even more of a place this year, driven both by the increasing costs of the ingredients themselves and a desire to waste less and act more sustainably.
8. Christmas Pudding – Our eighth reveal is the classic Christmas pudding. It's the festive dessert that has fallen out of favour of the past several years but this season the divisive pudding takes its place at more tables this year.
9. Advent – Our ninth reveal is Advent. The ever changing face of the classic Advent calendar continues to morph, with calendars this season ranging from walnut whips to frozen macarons this year. There's still a place for the classic chocolates though.
10. Pear – Our tenth reveal is Pear. Sitting alongside traditional Christmas flavours, the pear fruit is hero this year.
11. Cheese Please – Our eleventh reveal is cheese please! it's not just about the end of meal cheese plate this year as more and more savoury flavours are making an appearance, such as cheese profiteroles.
12. Frozen Caviar – As the freezer becomes more central to celebrations, premium ingredients kept on ice find a place too.
