Monday 22nd February is National Margarita Day here in the UK. To shine a light on the popular cocktail beverage we've taken a look at who's doing what to activate and celebrate the day, as well as taking a look at our drinkswatching report on Margaritas from last summer.
In true lockdown spirit, popular French liqueur producer Cointreau is celebrating with a bartender-operated cocktail delivery service bringing drinks directly to your door for competition winners. Additionally, Cointreau margarita kits are available for delivery from bars including the Discount Suit Company, Mr Foggs and Coupette.
Elsewhere, sticking with the lockdown home delivery theme, a popular Liverpool bar has launched a tequila infused pizza for today as a one off celebration. Crazy Pedro's has teamed up with Jose Cuervo to celebrate National Margarita Day, creating a unique crossover meal that combines the ingredients of a Margherita pizza with those of a Margarita cocktail - aptly named the Margarita Margherita.
The new pizza recipe includes a dough fermented in Jose Cuervo tequila, tomato sauce marinated in triple sec, salt, garlic and tequila, Buffalo mozzarella, fresh basil, grated parmesan, sea salt and fresh lime.
Margaritas were one of the early hits when it came to lockdown cocktails last year, and as such we covered the popular beverage in our June drinkswatching report. Covering home kits, mix your own, a range of flavours and tweaks to this frozen classic, and more - subscribers can read the full report over on the tfptrendhub here.
