QSR chain KFC is rolling out the marketing stunts once again with their latest limited edition themed takeover - turning KFC Waterloo into a Japanese Omakase restaurant to promote their new teriyaki burger, Omakase being a traditional Japanese style of dining whereby diners leave the choice of what will be served up to the chef.
The London location will be open for just one day this week - Friday 4th August - and will feature six Japanese-inspired KFC KFC dishes including the new KFC Teriyaki Burger. The other menu items are:
- Soy Sauce Glazed Corn on the Cob
- KFC Yakitori popcorn chicken on skewers marinated in teriyaki sauce
- KFC Karaage with ponzu
- KFC Mini Chicken Fillet Asian Salad
- Crispy Mini Chicken Fillet Nigiri topped with wasabi-infused garlic buttermilk mayo
The limited-edition Japanese-inspired KFC menu is curated by Japanese chef and renowned TikTok star, Akito Greenland. Speaking of the collaboration, Chef Akito said: 'I'm a big fan of KFC, so when they approached me to curate their Omakase menu, I just couldn't say no! Getting the chance to fuse their most-loved menu items with authentic Japanese cuisine has been a dream come true and I can't wait for everyone to try them!'
The interior is set to follow an elegant Japanese aesthetic with highchairs overlooking the chef's, or more so Colonel's, table within, however guests will be hard pushed to get a spot inside with placed by reservation only. 100% of proceeds from bookings, which cost £11 each, go to the KFC Foundation, supporting grassroots organisations working with young people across the country. Reservations open on 31st July.
