National Pie Week 2020

Though it might start a heated debate at the local pub, there is no denying that the British public have enjoyed a love affair with the pie for a long time, offering a spectrum of savoury flavours for any palate.

From the 2nd to the 8th of March, Britain celebrates National Pie Week, seeing plenty of inventive celebrations to mark the occasion with a pie or two.

Having established themselves as the 'go to' pie for those on the weekly shop looking for quality and interesting flavours, Higgidy shall be celebrating by committing to the FairShare pledge. Ensuring that everyone enjoys a slice of the pie by donating the same amount of pies sold during the week to UK charity FareShare, helping to tackle hunger by challenging the amount food which is left to go to waste.

It is unlikely you will find a better deal during National Pie Week than this, as supermarket baker Morrisons, slashes the price of its freshly baked Chunky Steak Pies to a jaw dropping 50p - totalling a reduction of 60%.

The offer lasts until the end of this weekend, but you best be quick to pay a visit, as these are certain to be selling like 'hot pies'!

A favourite at the local chippy or football match, Pukka pie have looked to build upon the popularity of their meat pies during National Pie Week, choosing to collaborate with another household name to create something new.

Marston's brewery have stepped up to the challenge and worked with Pukka to create a brand new Steak and Ale recipe, calling upon the malt flavours of Pedigree to further embolden the rich steak gravy which coats each piece of premium beef. Spot the limited edition pies on the shelf with their new purple packaging - a nod to the traditional colours of Marston's.

A long held favourite of those seeking something trendier than the traditional pie and mash offerings of East London, Pieminister have become synonymous with unique flavour pairings and pushing what is traditionally expected of a pie.

For those paying a visit to Pieminiter during the promotional week itself, there shall be a myriad of opportunities to win prizes across their restaurants, as diners are dished up scratchcards to offer the chance to claim free mash, exclusive merchandise and even a year's supply of Pieminister pies.
