Each month we track the most exciting new openings across the food and beverage industry, around the world. Check out the best new spots we've covered in October.
Origine, Auckland
Hospitality industry stalwarts, with over five decades of experience in French-inspired cuisine between them, have opened the doors to Origine. Ben & Cara Bayly and Chris & Lucile Martin are sharing their love for French food by creating a more relaxed and traditional brasserie where people can pop in for a quick drink or indulge in a more drawn-out lunch or dinner. In the kitchen, seasonality, terroir and technique are the cornerstones of the menu that features an array of classic dishes with a New Zealand twist like soupe a l'oignon enriched with oxtail and escargot ravioli. There's been an air of anticipation about this opening and it looks like it's well deserved.

The Savoy Hotel has reopened the Beaufort Bar with a sumptuous night-time concept that celebrates all the 'thrilling things that happen after dark'. The drinks are designed to reflect the scents and flavours found in Champagne. The signature drink is the Golden Apple Champagne cocktail which combines whisky, Cognac, Calvados, toffee apple and Laurent Perrier. Alex Dilling at Hotel Cafe Royal, London
The Hotel Cafe Royal has a brand new restaurant. Headed up by Alex Diling, it is his first solo venture and comes after the shock closure of The Greenhouse back in 2020. The opulent dining room has a muted colour palette that offers a calm retreat from the bustle of Regents Street below. As for his food, he is presenting contemporary French cuisine through a selection of menus. The emphasis is very much on fine dining with beautifully presented plates. Dishes include Brittany pigeon farci with foie gras, Cornish sardine with buttermilk and cuttlefish and Limousin veal sweetbread.

Alice, Sydney
The Rocks is the new home of Alice, a basement bar from the group behind Rockpool Bar & Grill. Head down the stairs to find a glamorous space with velvet-clad booths, ostrich feather lamps and splashes of marble, gold and amber all set against original sandstone walls. Drinks have been overseen by Steve McDermott who has created a menu of cocktails that are visually intriguing and fun. An example is the Lunchbox Milk Punch, a concoction of pisco, lime, Nippy's banana iced milk, makrut lime syrup and coconut milk. And to complement the drinks are dishes inspired by signature items at Rockpool Bar & Grill and Spice Temple.
