Supermarket chain Sainsbury's has today opened the doors to its London pop-up Picnic Pavilion an indoor picnic oasis in the heart of the capital, celebrating this National Picnic Week.
The indoor Picnic Pavilion provides what Sainsbury's describes it as an oasis for those who enjoy the idea of dining alfresco, but would rather not risk the weather dampening spirits or pesky wasps ruining the vibe. Officially opening in Covent Garden today and for a second day tomorrow, this stress-free picnic experience can be enjoyed from 12:00 – 20:15.
Having launched in the past weeks, tickets sold out quickly, with visitors set to receive a Sainsbury's picnic hamper filled to the brim with irresistible food and drinks from the latest Sainsbury's summer range, worth over £55.
In separate news from Sainsbury's, the brand has recently announced a number of changes to its packaging to reduce plastic waste by almost 700 tonnes. In a bit to reduce plastic usage, the supermarket has become the first retailer to introduce pulp trays for all of its salmon and trout products, as well as making packaging changes include replacing plastic trays with cardboard alternatives on all fresh breaded chicken and all fresh Taste the Difference breaded fish.
